Universal Destinations & Experiences is set to unveil its first-ever Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, by summer 2026. This innovative theme park is tailored specifically for families with young children, offering a more intimate and engaging experience compared to traditional Universal parks.
Beloved Characters Come to Life in Frisco
Spanning approximately 97 acres, the Universal Kids Resort is designed to be about a quarter the size of Universal’s larger parks, fostering a cozy and immersive environment for younger guests. The resort will feature six distinct themed lands, each inspired by beloved franchises:
DreamWorks’ Shrek: An ogre-sized adventure awaits in Shrek’s swamp-themed playground, where families can stomp, ride, and play together.Beaumont Enterprise

Jurassic World: Embark on an educational journey to learn about and interact with dinosaurs in exciting ways.
DreamWorks’ Trolls: Join Poppy, Branch, and the gang in a vibrant, glittery music festival full of harmony and joy.
DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots: Participate in a festive kitty adoption drive with Puss in Boots, featuring colorful decorations, games, and rides.
Thoughtful Design and Community Impact
The Universal Kids Resort in Frisco is being thoughtfully designed with lush landscapes and buffer trees to spark the imaginations of young children, with every detail—from sights to smells—crafted from a child’s perspective, according to Universal Creative President Molly Murphy.
Alongside the theme park, a 300-room hotel will offer family-friendly lodging, and the project is expected to create around 2,500 jobs. Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney shared his excitement, noting the resort’s lasting impact on the community and the joy it will bring to local children through daily character experiences.
