This Thanksgiving Weekend, Dickens on Main transforms downtown Boerne into a festive holiday spot with live music, performers, lights, food, activities for kids, and even snow on Main Street!

Dickens on Main stands as the top Holiday Celebration in the Texas Hill Country. Enjoy two days packed with fun activities for everyone!

The event features four villages, each providing a unique range of entertainment.

North Pole Village

The North Pole Village will be located on Boerne’s Main Plaza (100 N Main St) and will be home to the Dickens Market, music and dance performances and more. You’ll also be able to enjoy ice carving shows!

Tiny Tim Village

Tiny Tim Village will be at 101 S Main St and have food, activity and merchandise vendors, photos with Santa and Frosty, as well as a trackless train and kid’s crafts.

South Pole Village

Located at 437 S Main St, South Pole Village will feature more food and merchandise vendors, and live music. Make sure you stop by to get your photos with the Grinch!

Dickens Village

Dickens Village will be located at 312 S Main and have shows like Bah Humbug – One Man Show, Last Chance Forever Birds of Prey Show, as well as Christmas story telling.

We were thrilled to see Boerne Blaze, Boerne’s Special Olympics team, in the October 8th issue of the Boerne Star. This article showcases the amazing journey of the Boerne Blaze and their exceptional Special Olympian swimmers, including my daughter, Alexa Boehm, who are gearing up for the state meet next weekend.

The article states “Boerne Blaze swim team members competed in the Sept. 16 SOTX Area 20 swim meet in San Antonio and garnered 42 medals in the competition with five other teams. Nine Blaze swimmers – Alexa Boehm, Adam Cashion, Kylah Daniel, Elijah Draughn, Christopher Drollinger, Carley Fisk, Rebecca Stone, Jeff Walker and Ansley Wigger — advanced to the SOTX Fall Classic state swim meet Oct. 20-21 on the Texas A&M Campus in College Station.”

We can’t wait to cheer on Alexa and all the Boerne State Swimmers in College Station next weekend!

Texas A&M recently released their 2nd quarter commercial report. Below are some key take-aways from the report.

• Texas employment growth on a year-over-year (YOY) basis, while slowing, continues to outpace expectations and long-term trends across industries and the big four Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs).

• Monthly employment has moderated some, and YOY results are expected to moderate further through 2023, moving closer to long-term trends.

• Office vacancies remain high in major metropolitan areas, with only Houston seeing a decrease. Austin is expected to face increasing vacancy due to ongoing construction (5.6percent of existing inventory). The future of remote work, hybrid models, and corporate real estate changes is uncertain for mid-term office market trends.

• Class A apartment vacancies in Texas remain low but are rising. Population growth and remote work demand are reducing vacancy rates, but an influx of permitted units in the last two years will add to the supply.

Alamodome Upgrades: Getting Ready for the 2025 NCAA Final Four – If you’re a sports enthusiast or a fan of college basketball, you’re in for a treat! San Antonio’s Alamodome is getting a massive makeover for the 2025 NCAA Final Four. With millions in upgrades and renovations, this iconic venue is set to shine brighter than ever before.

A Grand Transformation

The Alamodome, with its 64,000 seats, first opened its doors in 1993. Over the years, it has hosted numerous events, from college football games to concerts. However, to maintain its status as a premier sports and entertainment venue, it was time for some major improvements.

San Antonio City Council approved $30 million in contracts to modernize the Alamodome for the 2025 NCAA Final Four. The first contract, valued at $19.89 million, was awarded to Skanska USA. The contract entails adding 18 club-level suites, upgrading facilities, installing a new sound system, and incorporating a dazzling LED monitor. These enhancements will not only improve the fan experience but also attract more high-profile events to the city.

Structural Repairs and More

The second contract, awarded to Turner Construction at $9.16 million, focuses on essential structural repairs. This includes addressing issues with cables and masonry walls. The aim is to create an interior space that is free from columns and other obstructions, ensuring an unobstructed view for all spectators.

One notable feature is the Alamodome’s roof structural system, which incorporates stay cable bridge technology. This innovative design was inspected in 2019, and no structural deficiencies were found. Any remaining conditions are being diligently remedied to ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees.

Countdown to 2025

Construction is set to begin in the fall, with completion scheduled for Spring of 2025, just in time for the highly anticipated NCAA Final Four. This event, which takes place on April 5 and 7, will showcase the Alamodome in all its upgraded glory. College basketball fans can look forward to an unforgettable experience with improved amenities and a more modern look and feel.

The Alamodome has a rich history of hosting NCAA events, having previously hosted the men’s Final Four in 1998, 2004, 2008, and 2018, as well as the women’s Final Four in 2002, 2010, and 2021. The excitement doesn’t end in 2025! The NCAA has announced that the Alamodome will also host women’s semifinal and championship games in 2029.

A Home for UTSA and More

The Alamodome isn’t just a venue for NCAA events; it’s also the home turf for the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) football team. Additionally, the stadium hosts the Valero Alamo Bowl each December, adding to its extensive list of sporting events.
